According to a serial leaker, Apple’s Pro-branded iPhone 12 models will start at 128 gigabytes of baseline storage while their non-Pro counterparts, including so-called “iPhone 12 mini,” are apparently going to start at 64 rather than at 128 gigabytes of storage (as previously rumored).

That’s according to serial leaker Jon Prosser, who claimed on Twitter this morning that both the lower-end 5.4 iPhone 12 and the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max models will come in the 64/128/256GB storage tiers. The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max models, however, should start at 128 gigabytes of storage, according to Prosser’s tweets.

The prolific leaker added Apple will deliver its initial shipment of ‌the new iPhone 12 models to its carrier partners and distributors on October 5 (ahead of the rumored media event).

According to Nikkei, mass production of the iPhone 12 models has kicked off earlier this month. Apple is widely expected to announce and preview the entire iPhone 12 lineup at the event, but Pro models are not expected to start shipping before later in November.

Prosser also added that so-called “iPhone 12‌ mini” is its final marketing name.

Don’t take everything Prosser says for granted. While it’s obvious that he has some deeply-entrenched sources within Apple, probably at the executive level, his rumor reporting has had its share of misses, too. It was Prosser, for instance, who claimed back in May that the entire iPhone 12 lineup would start at 128 gigabytes of baseline storage.
