While there is some speculation regarding when, exactly, Apple is going to launch new iPhones later this year, it sounds like production will kick off relatively soon.

According to a report from DigiTimes on Tuesday, Apple is going to kickstart production of the iPhone 12 in July of this year. That means that Apple will complete the “Engineering Validation and Testing” (EVT) phase by the end of June. Interestingly enough, the report appears to indicate that all iPhone 12 models, of which there are expected to be four of them, will all enter production at the same time next month.

Apple is still expected to announce all of the models at the same time, which could be sometime in September of this year, but there is still some back-and-forth regarding an actual release date. Some have suggested that Apple could stagger the iPhone 12 lineup launch later this year, with production challenges pushing the higher-end models beyond the late September release date.

Antenna-in-package (AiP) design changes, which took place in April of this year, could be the reason some of these iPhone 12 models get a delayed launch compared to the other models. These handsets will support the faster mmWave 5G technology. The lower-end iPhone 12 models will support the slower sub-6Hz 5G technology.

As far as the iPhone 12 lineup is concerned, all four models are expected to launch with OLED displays. The smallest of the bunch will feature a 5.4-inch screen, while two will boast 6.1-inch displays. And finally, at the top of the pyramid, will be a 6.7-inch model.
