The next iPhone should double the storage, with the baseline model expected to start at 128 gigabytes rather than 64 gigabytes like the current iPhone 11 family. On top of that, the baseline iPhone 12 should be cheaper at launch by $50 versus its iPhone 11 counterpart.
That’s accordion to prolific leaker John Prosser of the YouTube channel Front Page Tech, who claims in his new video that the lower-end 5.4 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models will be available in 128GB and 256GB flavors. Meanwhile, the higher-end 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 models are thought to offer 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage.
AppleInsider has more:
Of note in the leak is that it includes Apple’s supposed pricing structure for 2020. The iPhone 12 will cost $649 for the 128GB-capacity version, rising to $749 for 256GB. The iPhone 12 Pro Max version will cost $749 and $849 for each respective capacity.
Three capacities will be offered for the iPhone 12 Pro models at $999, $1,099 and $1,299 for the 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions, respectively. For the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the same capacities will cost $1,099, $1,199 and $1,399.
The current iPhone 11 family starts from $699, meaning the baseline iPhone 12 model should be cheaper at launch by $50. As for the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, these start from $999 and $1,099, the same as the rumored prices for their iPhone 12 counterparts.
The last three iPhone generations had 64GB base storage so this should be a nice storage upgrade for would-be iPhone shoppers, especially if Apple keeps prices intact because you’ll be getting twice the storage — and a bunch of new tech — for the same amount of money.
The iPhone X and iPhone 8 in 2017 boosted the base storage from 32GB to 64GB.

Apple is expected to unveil the next iPhone family in September, with all four models expected to feature 5G cellular networking, OLED display panels, Apple’s A14 chip and more, with some models like the flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max also getting such perks as a LiDAR scanner, 120Hz screen and an improved telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
